At Notaro Care Homes, we believe that every stage of life should be celebrated with joy, dignity, and inclusion. That’s why we’re proud to share the vibrant and heartwarming celebration that took place this June at Aspen Court Dementia Nursing Care Home in Taunton, as we joined the nation in honouring Pride Month.
Aspen Court came alive with colour, music, and community spirit as residents, staff, families, and neighbours came together for a Pride garden party to remember. From rainbow outfits to a cheerful mini march around the home and nearby park, the event radiated love, acceptance, and unity.
One of the highlights was a show-stopping performance by local drag artist Penny Drops, whose renditions of beloved classics like “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “Dancing Queen” had residents singing along and swaying to the music. Her energy and charm truly lit up the day.
Sweet treats were also on the menu thanks to The Sugar Parlour, who generously donated Pride-themed cupcakes that were as delicious as they were beautiful.
Adding to the special day, Ms Regency International 2023/2024 joined the celebration, spreading a message of pride, dignity, and the importance of celebrating diversity in every generation.
Our neighbours at Cedar Lodge care home also joined us, making it a true community event that reflected the inclusiveness we aim to foster across all our homes.
As Richard, Aspen Court’s Activities Coordinator, beautifully put it:
“Residents lit up with joy – singing, dancing, and sharing stories. Pride is not just for the young – it’s for everyone, and we’re proud to be part of a community that embraces that spirit.”
