February at Notaro Care Homes was a month filled with warmth, creativity and connection as residents and staff came together. The month kicked off on the 1st with a dedicated Storytelling Week, where residents shared fascinating snippets of their pasts, recounted memorable life experiences and looked at old photographs. This activity not only evoked cherished memories but also provided our staff with moments of genuine delight as they witnessed the power of storytelling to connect us all.
A few days later, on the 7th of February, a resident at Stuart House received a beautifully hand-crafted model village from a relative. This thoughtful gift served as a poignant reminder of the deep bonds that link us to our loved ones.
Mid-month brought a burst of energy and laughter at Aspen Court. On the 11th of February, Richard from the activities team spearheaded a lively session of Musical Bingo that had residents fully engaged and smiling from ear to ear. The fun continued on the 12th when residents enthusiastically participated in a range of games, including a ping pong on a wire challenge and a tissue paper foot slide game. These playful activities sparked friendly competition and left everyone with memorable moments of shared joy.
The fun of February continued at Casa di Lusso on the 13th, as residents received a visit from their bunny rabbits. The presence of these gentle creatures added a whimsical touch to the day, evoking smiles and light-hearted conversations among all who witnessed their playful antics.
Valentine’s Day on the 14th was a celebration of love in every sense across all of our homes. Residents across Casa di Lusso offered heartfelt relationship and love advice, drawing on years of life experience. Their words – ranging from “it is the most precious thing to love and be loved” to “communicate even when it’s hard” – resonated deeply, as various celebrations were held throughout the homes, highlighting the enduring importance of connection and affection. Immacolata House held a Valentine’s lunch where residents and loved-ones could get together. Residents enjoyed a special day with their loved ones, receiving red roses and thoughtful gifts. Aspen Court went all out and had a lovely Valentine’s Party, complete with decorations and a selfie frame.
As February drew to a close, the 25th was marked by uplifting Music and Movement sessions that transformed simple exercises into a joyful celebration. These sessions not only energised residents but also reinforced the powerful bond between physical well-being and emotional happiness. The month concluded on the 26th at Aspen Court with a live performance by the talented flautist Camilla. Her melodies filled the room, leaving residents inspired and reflective as they embraced the close of a truly memorable month.
Overall, February was rich with storytelling, creative fun, playful interactions and celebrations at Notaro Care Homes, making the month a beautiful reminder of the power of connection, care and shared joy.
