Casa di Lusso receives new improved CQC rating

We’re thrilled to announce that Casa di Lusso Care Home has received a ‘Good’ rating following recent CQC inspection.

Casa, which cares and supports individuals living with or without dementia and nursing needs; sits on the outskirts of Bridgwater and is easily accessible from the M5 J23.

Staff in the home, have been working on all areas of the service to ensure the home delivers above expectations. As a result the latest CQC rating reflects this.

Sharon Goldsworthy, Quality and Performance Manager for Notaro Care Homes has been overseeing the improvements to our £10m care home, which opened in October 2016.

“I have been working closely with the entire staff team. To ensure that they have been fundamental in all the positive changes that have been made here at Casa. They are a credit to themselves, and I think the report speaks volumes about the good work they are achieving here at Casa”.

Key areas highlighted by the report:

Safety –

The report states that residents at Casa di Lusso feel safe and secure. When asked by inspectors, one resident stated, “Yes I do feel safe, knowing there is 24/7 care. It’s like my little haven”.

Relatives expressed their happiness too with the support they and their families receive from the staff at the home, one commented, “Nothing is ever too much trouble, if things need changing, we simply sit down all together and discuss it”. While another commented, “There is always someone keeping an eye on everyone”.

Care –

Demonstrates the positive impact staff are having on the residents. The report writes, “Everyone we spoke with felt they are treated with respect and staff protect their dignity. Comments from people included. “Staff always knock on the door before entering”, “They speak to me kindly”, “They are always polite”, “There is a very high standard of care here”.

Sharon Goldsworthy has been very keen to talk about the fantastic work the staff at Casa continue to display.

“The team have really come together, working collaboratively and cohesively, they really have become a strong unit, we are all so proud of them”.

Staff comments in the report included, “Yes, I feel supported. I had a supervision a few weeks ago” and “Yes, I do feel supported. When I raised something a while ago, Sharon Goldsworthy responded and resolved it very quickly. I feel confident to speak up if I need more support.”

As a family business, we are proud of Casa di Lusso and the facilities available in the home, it was of paramount importance to provide a home that offers so much more than lounges to sit in and gardens to wonder. We asked people what they really wanted from a care home, and we created it.

Within Casa, you will find our much-loved cinema room, a place to watch your favourite movies and reminisce about the old Hollywood greats. A beautifully serene hair & beauty room, to enjoy a spot of pampering. Perhaps you love to take a stroll in the garden? Our gardens are so much more, with raised bedding and greenhouses, to a designated play area for children, including the popular pirate ship and our infamous petting farm, home to so many wonderful animals.

The CQC report highlights the activities and facilities here at the home, “Residents have access to a range of activities, and some people told us they chose to attend them, while others did not. One person comments, “I enjoy watching the children play when they come in,” referring to the Children’s Play area where the pirate ship and playhouse are. Other comments include; “We sit out in the garden and watch the children. It’s lovely to see them”, “I like going out in the mini-bus”, “I like the arts and crafts.” A relative says, “They always tell dad what’s going on.”

Everything at Casa is designed around your choice. Our residents are in control of how they choose to spend their day. The CQC report notes this; ‘During the inspection children from a local nursery visited to help people make some hats. The activities coordinator told us’, “We do see smiles and more interaction from people when the children are here. However, it’s people’s choice; they don’t have to come if they don’t want to.”

Overall, we are thrilled with our new inspection and always welcome visitors anytime. The home and facilities cater for everyone, and what’s more, we have an array of different room options to choose from. To find out more, drop in or give us a call on 01278 557100 or simply visit our website,
