We are thrilled and proud to announce that Jessica Stephenson, Carer who works at Cedar Lodge Residential Dementia Home, has reached the finals of the Care Focus Care Awards 2016
Jessica received a nomination from her Manager, Matthew Parrish, and hear is some of what Matthew wrote;
“Jessica has worked for Cedar Lodge care home since April 2010 (starting as an apprentice). Jessica has natural drive and curiosity to expand her personal knowledge; it was only a matter of time until Jessica worked her way up to Degree level within her chosen profession.
Her approach and communication is effective and caring. Her experience and demeanour have helped to promote a person cantered, people focused environment, improving areas in deprivation of liberty, best interest MC assessments, advance care planning, people’s presentation, dignity, wishes, family support, palliative care team /GP/DN liaison, pain relief and comfort planning.
Jessica has been able to build bridges within our team enabling us to achieve the only residential care home within our group to have attained ‘The Gold Standard Framework Accreditation’.
She has been paramount in cascading End of Life learning to other team members enhancing our ethos and culture. She is our ‘End of Life Champion’ mentoring other team members, sharing her compassion and heart felt care and support for others.
Jessica is a conscientious, committed hard worker, sets herself achievable goals and strives for perfection and personal best.
She has valuable experience working in Nursing ,Residential and Mental Health services and has driven relations between ourselves and other care professionals i.e.. GP, District Nurses ,Palliative care teams, psychiatric consultants.
She is a natural leader and good role model to staff and learners, being professional, positive, having creative relations with work colleagues and service users. Jessica speaks from experience and has worked her way up the care scale from student to prospective senior/nurse, passing her studies with determination and consideration.
Our service users and relatives have positive comments to make in relation to her work and caring approach-enhancing people’s lives and supporting families at their time of need.
Jessica is highly regarded amongst her fellow team members for her approach and passion for End of Life care and has recently been volunteered by her collages as a Team Leader.”

The gala awards evening will be held at Wellsprings leisure centre, Taunton on Friday 22nd April 2016.
