Cedar Lodge held a garden party for Archie and Wellsprings Primary School…

On Tuesday afternoon, 81 children from Wellsprings Primary School, who have been linked with Cedar Lodge for four months through the Archie Project, enjoyed a wonderful garden party.

They celebrated the beautiful Archie garden that was created by the school children and staff. They started the garden at the beginning of June, weeding, planting and painting the raised flower beds and bridge in Archie’s favourite colours, yellow and red.

The flowers that they planted in the well are blue and orange to represent goldfish in water and the fantastic wooden sign was hand made by Cedar Lodge’s very talented Maintenance person, Mark.

The garden party kicked off with fresh ice cream from the local Ice cream van, and singing and dancing together with The Turtle Dove Man.

Fiona Mahoney attended, dressed as Archie, posing for pictures, chatting and dancing with the residents and children.

Later in the afternoon the Wellsprings Primary school pupils all sang three songs for Cedar Lodge, then the residents and Staff returned the favour by singing Archie’s song accompanied by the Turtle Dove Man.

Miss Ellis, Class TA for year 3 & 4, made an emotional speech to thank Cedar Lodge for everything during their time together and presented them with a gift for their Archie garden, a colourful metal owl and bird. Madison, school pupil, also presented Cedar Lodge with a gift of a garden windmill that she bought herself with her pocket money.

The wonderful, sunny afternoon ended with tea and delicious cake (the best i have ever tasted!), baked by Anton, Domestic Assistant.

Cedar Lodge is very much looking forward in continuing their relationship with Wellsprings Primary School and the inspiring Archie Project.
