Anita Wingrove, activities coordinator at Clarence Park nursing Home, completes her 8th year in the Mendip Challenge 2015…
The Mendip Challenge is a sponsored event that takes participants along the West Mendip Way and in the Somerset Hills. There are many routes to choose; from a 5 mile fancy dress beach route up to a 30 mile hike along the mendips!
It can be walked or ran and at the end of the route, a well earned celebration of food & drink stalls and music is waiting for all to enjoy. All money raised goes to Weston Hospicecare;
“Weston Hospicecare provides physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care to the 1 in 100 local people with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease and heart or lung failure. The Hospice’s care reaches out to local people in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and border areas of Somerset providing a safe haven and source of comfort and guidance to every single person who needs it.” – Weston Hospicecare
Anita walked the Mendip Challenge for the 8th year running! She takes part in memory of her parents who received care & support from the Hospice. “I would like to reward them for all their support, not only for my family but to other individuals and their families during these difficult times” [Anita]
Anita chose to do the 10 mile walk this year, and took it on wearing pink clothes and minnie mouse ears! She also had to face, in her opinion, the most challenging hill during the walk, that she has now named ‘Sod’s Hill’.
Anita has raised a wonderful £415 so far! Well Done Anita! An inspiration to us all!
She is already planning her next years walk, and is hoping to get a team together!
