Friday April 25th was a day enjoyed by many across Notaro Care Homes.  It was the day we held a fund raiser in aid of the Somerset Community Flood Victims.

Homes and residents across the group were involved in making delicious cream tea that was on sale for staff, relatives and visitors to buy and in doing so; donate to this worthy local cause.

Immacolata House put up images telling the story of the damage and devastation caused by the flooding of winter 2013/14 and played music with a watery theme, which the residents loved dancing to.

Serenita ARBD Care in Weston got into the spirit of things by painting each other’s faces and playing games, such as skittles and pool, whilst enjoying a lovely cream tea prepared by staff and residents.

Campania ARBD took the brief of hosting a tea party for the flood fund literally and involved all residents in the making of some amazing cakes.  The home cooked up a real treat including a Victoria sponge, cup cakes, cream tea and other delicious goodies, which they then sold.

La Fontana hosted their tea party in the beautiful surroundings of our innovative sunroom, against the back drop of the Mediterranean Sea. Families and visitors gathered and enjoyed some of the culinary delights cooked up for the fund raiser and enjoyed playing games whilst listening to sounds of the ocean.

Matthew Parrish, Home Manager of Cedar Lodge took raising money into his own hands and organised a fun run for himself, approximately 13.6 miles long.  Matt ran around an area of the Quantocks which backs onto Cedar Lodge on Friday morning and completed the run within 2 hours 13 minutes.  An incredible feat considering the vast majority of the run was up hill, so a big well done and congratulations to him.  Matthew’s kind selfless act was met by the immense amount of money he raised, which was £563.28 in total.  The residents and staff of Cedar Lodge also got involved in baking their own delights and enjoyed a lovely tea party in the afternoon, attended by relatives and visitors.

Clarence Park involved their residents in a games afternoon and raffle whilst enjoying a sing-along with Ron. Relatives really enjoyed spending some quality time with their loved ones, whilst enjoying a tasty bite.

It’s been a fabulous success right across the Notaro Care Homes Group and it gives us great pleasure to announce that we raised £877.11 which includes a very generous donation from a sponsor in Taunton sponsoring Matt’s run of £230.80, which will be going directly to the Somerset Community Foundation.

This couldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the support of all our staff, residents, relatives and visitors to the homes, so thank you very much.
