Campania

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the home and showing you around.

Alcohol past & present support services

Campania is a specialist unit providing residential care and rehabilitation for up to 37 people of at least 45 years of age who are living with alcohol related problems such as Korsakoff's syndrome. We may in exceptional circumstances consider persons under the age of 45 years if we can meet their assessed needs.

The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide a service for people whose primary care needs on admission to the home are within the Alcohol Past and Present care category.  We do not provide accommodation for people who are continuing to abuse alcohol.

The home

Campania is a short walk from Weston-super-Mare's famous seafront including the Grand Pier which was destroyed by fire on 28th July 2008. The new pier (above) is now under construction and is due to open this summer. Campania overlooks Ellenborough Park, the western half of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) being a remnant of a sand dune grassland system supporting an important and rare community of plants.

Support

Each person admitted to the home is carefully assessed.  We aim with the resident's involvement to put in place a package of care and support that will enable that person to be as independent as possible. We encourage links with a resident's family, often lost when lives are disrupted by alcohol abuse, to be re-established. The extent to which people can recover from alcohol related brain damage is variable, but we always try to go beyond just providing a safe home and put rehabilitation at the forefront of what we try to achieve. We encourage former skills and interests to be regained and provide opportunities for new experiences to enrich the lives of our residents.
