Well and Truely Open!
A successful and most enjoyable opening day was attended by around 200 visitors to La Fontana Care Home in Martock, Somerset on Wednesday 13th July 2011. The home which provides nursing care for people with dementia and other mental disorders was officially opened by Clinton Rogers, the BBC’s Chief Somerset Correspondent.
Nunzio Notaro (Managing Director) thanked builders D.R. Jones and planning consultants and architects White Young and Green for all their work on the innovative new care home. He also said a big thank you to all the members of staff at Notaro Homes who had put in a huge amount of work to make the opening go so smoothly.
Nunzio presented Clinton with a cheque for £1,000 to give his chosen charity. Clinton told the open day visitors he would present the cheque to a team of Royal Marines from 40 Commando near Taunton who would be completing the Thames Challenge the next day in London. The team of Marines, who sustained injuries whilst on service in Afghanistan, rowed the whole length of the Thames for 10 to 12 hours a day from 10th to 14th July. The Marines were raising money for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund which helps the wounded and injured in any way they can, particularly as the most severely injured begin their transition into civilian life.
