Investors in People Silver Standard
On Tuesday 22nd February 2011 local MP Adrian Sanders presented Vane Hill Specialist Care Home in Torquay with the Investors in People Silver Standard. The presentation took place at a reception held at Vane Hill. The home first achieved recognition by Investors in People, when the home was awarded the Bronze Standard in 2009. Recognising Excellence assessor, Dee Cooper commented: "I am delighted that Vane Hill Specialist Care Home has achieved the Investors in People Silver Award. The commitment of every member of staff to the ethos and values of the home is really impressive and there is, understandably, a high degree of pride. Vane Hill achieves an excellent balance between a relaxed ‘laid back' atmosphere and one of structure and discipline; this is clearly important for the service users."
The aim of Investors in People is to help employers across the UK to develop their businesses by making the most of their most valuable asset, which is of course the organisation's people. Becoming an Investor in People shows an organisations commitment to continuous business improvement through its people. It also provides a framework for improving business performance and competitiveness through good practice in human resource development.
An organisation that has achieved the Standard has been successful in adopting and maintaining its three fundamental principles:
- Plan - developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation, from business goals to leadership strategies;
- Do - implementing those strategies, taking action to improve the performance of the organisation;
- Review - evaluating and adjusting those strategies, measuring their impact on the performance of the organisation.
The Investors in People framework is promoted, developed and delivered in the South West by Recognising Excellence Ltd, (Investors in People South West)
Strategic ownership of Investors in People belongs to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills
