Funded Nursing Care Contributions
If you live in a care home that provides nursing care, the National Health Service (NHS) normally contributes to covering the cost of the nursing element. These contributions are called Funded Nursing Care Contributions. You may also see them referred to as Registered Nursing Care Contributions (RNCC).
Under the National Framework for NHS Continuing Health Care and NHS Funded Nursing Care there are effectively two rates:
- the standard rate which applies to most people
- a higher rate which is restricted to those people who were in receipt of the old higher rate at the time of the introduction of the National Framework and who retain entitlement to this higher rate until they are re-assessed as needing another level of support (or none).
The annual increase in these contributions has been announced with effect from 1st April 2009.
- the standard rate will increase from £103.80 to £106.30 per week
- the high band will increase from £142.80 to £146.30
Some people will have the full cost of their care paid for by the NHS; this is called 'continuing health care'.
